Typically delivered as 4-week assessments & 12-week treatment plans
Neurologic Music Therapy® (NMT™) is an evidence-informed, goal-led approach that uses 20 structured musical techniques to support rehabilitation following neurological injury, disease or disorder. We work collaboratively with the wider team to target functional outcomes across communication, cognition, motor coordination, gait timing and emotional regulation. Using the Transformational Design Model (TDM)™ sessions are tailored to the individual and can be delivered in person or online, with agreed review points and clear reporting to support decision-making.

Typically delivered as 4-week assessments & 12-week treatment plans
Psychodynamic music therapy offers a relational, depth-oriented approach for clients whose progress is shaped by emotional distress, adjustment, trauma, identity disruption, or complex relational patterns. Music provides a powerful medium for expression, containment and repair when words are difficult or overwhelming. This approach can be particularly helpful for anxiety, low mood, behavioural distress, high arousal, and for children and young people who need support with safety, attachment and emotional regulation. As always, we work within a clear therapeutic frame, with attention to risk, safeguarding and the wider context.
Therapeutic Singing integrates vocal work with therapeutic goals, supporting breath-voice coordination, phrasing, confidence and self-expression. This may be used to support voice and communication goals (where appropriate) and can also support regulation, mood-lifting and motivation. We draw on strong vocal pedagogy while staying firmly within clinical scope and person-centred pacing, particularly where fatigue and confidence are factors. We are able to work in choral settings with people living with Parkinson’s Disease and dementia.
The MATADOC is a standardised diagnostic music-based assessment and treatment planning tool validated for use with adults with prolonged disorders of consciousness (PDOC). The MATADOC provides a rigorous assessment and evaluation for use with people whose awareness is difficult to assess clinically due to complex clinical presentations that compromise motor, cognitive and communication functioning. Although validated for adults with PDOC, the MATADOC can be used with other minimally responsive populations including those with profound developmental disabilities, end stage dementia or end stage terminal illness.

We regularly work alongside other professionals and welcome collaborative models of care. This can include joint sessions, shared goal-setting, coordinated home practice strategies, and aligned reporting—particularly with SLT. We work alongside Excel SLT Ltd. therapists on a regular basis, and we are also delighted to work with OT, psychology, physiotherapy, education teams and support workers. Our aim is to make input coherent and complementary, reducing duplication and supporting meaningful carryover into daily life.
Online therapy can be highly effective for many clients, particularly where travel, fatigue, geography or access are barriers. We deliver structured, interactive sessions online with the same clinical standards as in-person work, and can provide tailored practice resources to support carryover between appointments. Online work is offered following a suitability discussion, considering the client’s needs, environment and support available.
We provide clear, professional medico-legal reporting within our scope of practice, including documentation that supports case management, deputies/solicitors and wider decision-making. Our reports are structured, evidence-informed and clinically reasoned, and we work with appropriate consent, confidentiality and governance. Serenna holds Bond Solon expert witness certification.
We offer training and consultation for professionals and organisations who want to understand how music therapy and NMT™ techniques can support rehabilitation and communication goals. This may include case consultation, team training, and practical CPD sessions that help colleagues integrate music-informed strategies safely and effectively within their roles. We also offer foundational training for musicians interested in music therapy and community musicianship.
For more details about our services, contact practice manager Saphia Amer [email protected] or book a no-obligation call with Serenna Wagner to discuss your client’s requirements.
